Cassy YingEboard Position: Co-Publicity Chair
Class of: 2025 Major: Government Hometown: Pleasanton, California Member Since: September 2021 Bio: Little Cassy had to be gently nudged into music. At age 5 she started piano (how original) and hated it for 7 years. But once she could choose her own pieces, she finally discovered the joy of playing music. In 5th grade, Cassy’s mother wanted her to do band, so she chose percussion because she thought it would be an easy transition from piano... Meanwhile, growing up, one of her favorite father-daughter bonding activities was watching taiko, and her dad's affinity for taiko eventually rubbed off on her after a memorable night of Kodo at Berkeley. When she got to Cornell, all it took was one YouTube video (Gaifuu, PULSE 2018) for Cassy to resolve to try out for Yamatai. Since then, she’s walked and talked lots of late nights away, climbed rocks, eaten funny dumplings, snowflakes, and bad curry, thrown (and dropped) many sticks, made friends who don't know they're stuck with her for life, and played some drums (with her feet). She looks forward to making more mems. Likes: reading for fun, journaling, sunrises after all-nighters, rainy days at the beach, driving to 2010s, Gus the dorm fish, pancake houses, eye smiles, hair salons, warm wind, romcoms, soup Dislikes: people who hoard limb space on planes, when people answer Qs w/ Qs, "Mexican" food at Cornell(/Ith/the E Coast), people who are rude to customer service, the patriarchy Color Aura: sage green, orange-yellow, lilac *my roommate has color synesthesia |
