Bio: Samantha (nickname Sammy) originally had a more classical training in music with playing the oboe. After many years of western musical training, she learned about taiko for the first time in high school when her Japanese teacher created the school's first taiko team. Sammy learned many of the joys of playing with a team and spreading the joy and energy that comes with the ancient art of Japanese drumming. Upon entering Cornell, Sammy saw the amazing Yamatai group perform at many orientation events and knew that she needed to join such a talented group and continue her love for taiko drumming.
Likes: Marine biology, music (specifically: KPop, classical, twentyone pilots, EDM, most radio music), the color black (whoever said orange is the new black is seriously distrubed), playing the oboe, singing (in the shower), speaking Japanese, travelling, reading, creative writing (poetry is my life), eating (specifically: Japanese food, Korean food, pasta, desserts), lots of free Wifi
Dislikes: Sudden loud noises, unruly oboe reeds, social studies, mean people, tomatoes, sketchy elevators
