Bio: Emily’s childhood was full of music, from going to all of her sister’s concerts, dancing along to her favorite songs, and being put into piano and singing lessons (the latter of which went absolutely abysmally— never ask Emily to sing). When Emily reached the ripe old age of 10, she picked up the flute, and played in various ensembles throughout middle and high school and joined the Cornell Wind Symphony, but she has always wanted to branch out more musically.
After hearing that CU Winds was doing a collaboration performance with Yamatai, she looked them up on YouTube and was instantly hooked on the group’s energy and power (and was in awe of the big drum muscles. She wants big drum muscles). She showed up to tryouts on a whim, which was probably the best choice she made since coming to Cornell! She couldn’t be more grateful for the Yama-fam, and looks forward to learning more about taiko and having fun with the team!
