Grace GuEboard Position: Training Officer
Class of: 2023 Major: Linguistics and Psychology Hometown: Ridgewood, NJ Member Since: September 2019 Bio: Music has always been a huge part of Grace’s life. But being a pianist can be lonely sometimes :( Her only companion was the metronome, and it constantly betrayed her by going just a little too slow (either Grace broke it or it broke her). So when Grace stumbled upon some Yamatai videos over the summer, she exclaimed: “That’s it! That’s what I want to do!” Over the next few weeks, Grace kept showing her friends and family her newly discovered treasures. “Hey, isn’t this so cool! They’re so amazing!” she said, her eyes shining like high beam flashlights. “Yeah, ok.” her friends replied as they watched Gaifuu for the 9999th time. During tryouts, a lot of other clubs were also holding their auditions. She went to a lot of them, but none of them gave her as much satisfaction as Yamatai's did. She had never tried taiko before, but she just loved how it made her feel so alive! So she hoped with all her heart that she would get in— it would be a fangirl’s dream come true. And she did! She is still so happy to be a part of Yamatai, and she hopes that the magic of drumming will never wear off.
