Haruna FloateClass of: 2026
Major: Nutritional Sciences Hometown: Honolulu, HI Member Since: September 2022 Bio: Though Haruna had been interested in picking up a musical instrument throughout high school, she didn’t know where or how to start (especially after multiple unsuccessful attempts of learning how to read sheet music). She had hoped college would be an opportunity to discover a musical aspect to her life, and when Haruna came across Yamatai at Cornell, she thought taiko would be the perfect way to get involved in music, stay active, and keep in touch with her Japanese cultural roots while away from home. Since becoming a member, she has enjoyed playing a variety of rhythms, bonding with fellow noobs and boobs, and learning more about the art of taiko. She looks forward to kiai-ing and banging big drums with the energetic Yamatai family. Likes: Embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, rollerblading, camping, the color green, the smell of rain, Converse high tops, 2B pencils. Dislikes: Washing dishes, mushrooms, mosquito bites, dry cold weather |
